About Us

Tri-State Lumber was founded in 1967 as a wholesale lumber distributor and was located on Spring Street, with a small building and a rip spur for unloading and staging. The company’s core business consists of selling West Coast Spruce Lumber to manufactured home companies in a 150-mile radius of Fulton, MS.

In 1970, West Coast mills did not manufacture mobile home-specific products as the industry was still in its infancy. This created an opportunity for Homan Wood Products to be started in 1970, and the company moved to its current location.  Homan Wood Products would take West Coast Spruce Lumber and remanufacture it into manufactured home specifications.

In 1977, Tri-State built our first treating plant. In late 1977 and early 1978, we built a kiln and stacker and started KDAT, our treated pine boards. In 1978, Tri-State Lumber Co. invested in a planer to maximize our kiln capacity. As we continued to grow our drying, planning, and treating business, a persistent challenge was securing a consistent supply from small regional sawmills. In 1987, we built our first sawmill at the Fulton, MS, location.
